Dam Son, Gin is Good!
Damson Gin could be the next big favourite. Why have you never heard of it?
What is a damson?
The first thing that came to mind when I came across 6 O’clock Damson gin was… what on earth is a damson!?
Well, here is a picture of it. It is like a prune but less sweet, like a plum but sweeter – it is a tangy wild plum that is actually quite hard to find!
Why we like 6’Oclock Damson Gin?
It is made with 6 O’Clock gin, which is exceptionally smooth already. It is a liqueur at 26% abv. that is very good neat and makes a very refreshing gin when tonic or ginger ale are added.
It tastes fruity but not overly sweet. The flavour of the damson complements the botanicals in the gin and keeps that sharp, dry finish we love.
It is produced by the British distillery Bramley & Gage that has been making liqueurs for over 20 years! The process is similar to the one used to make sloe gin. Damson Gin and Sloe Gin are like brothers from other mothers, you’ll like Damson Gin if you like Sloe Gin and you’ll find it even better if you think the latter is a little too sweet!
Overall vote: 10/10 – definitely worth trying!
