How Many Of These 11 Unusual Gins Have You Tried?

There are hundreds (if not thousands) of gins around and so there’ll always be those that are a bit more unusual than others. We’ve put together 11 of the one’s we think are pretty different and might surprise you, how many have you tried?

SAFFRON GIN – from Boudier

A colour of gin (which is all natural) is something you don’t see every day in a bottle of gin, made with the world’s most expensive spice which is saffron.

ANTY GIN – Gin made from…Ants

You may remember about us writing about Ant Gin here, this is still one of the more unusual gins we’ve come across. Made from 6,000 ants and costing around £280 it’s not likely to be found in your local gin bar, would you try it?

NETTLE GIN – with no stings!

LOBSTER GIN – made with real lobster

Aptly named ‘Lobstar gin; often throws up mixed opinions from people, some like the idea of it while others are not keen on it, we’ve tried it and half of us liked it and the other half didn’t, so we’re thinking of it as a bit like the Marmite of the gin world. CLOTTED CREAM GIN – yes you read that right

The Wrecking Coast Distillery have created this unique Cornish Clotted Cream Gin and we want to try it, it’s hand distilled with Cornish clotted cream to produce a smooth creamy flavour, I think the summer is calling for this one!

SEAWEED GIN – from the Celtic coast

Often known as one of mother nature’s superfoods, Dà Mhìle have created a gin from handpicked seaweed taken from the Celtic coast to create this gin. Find more here

Perfect for those festive moments when you want to combine a tradition with your favourite tipple, the gin is made by distilling whole Christmas Puddings! Would you try this?

YORKSHIRE TEA GIN – tea + gin = 🙂

Made using Yorkshire water, their own juniper berries and of course tea, this unique gin by Masons is something we know we would love as well as anyone who is a bit of a tea drinker may also fall in love with.

A gin that we featured in one of our ILoveGin monthly boxes and that was loved by our members, Infused with 47 botanicals include cocoa beans which is claimed to also be a ‘pure aphrodisiac’.

Pinkster gin is made from fresh raspberries, it’s distinct colour makes it stand out from the crowd and it’s now quite well known so some of you may have come across it before.

BLOODY SHIRAZ GIN – red wine meets gin

Four Pillars have created a delicious gin which is made by getting shiraz grapes and steeping them in gin for 8 weeks and then are pressed, realising a unique gin which is a deep red colour and a flavour that’s unique. Find out more about this gin here.
