Check out the new Hayman’s Gin Distillery!

A couple of weeks ago I was very lucky and visited the new distillery of Hayman’s Gin! They have recently re-branded their bottles and have moved from Essex to Balham. The distillery is absolutely beautiful and you can also go for a visit!

The distillery is just down the road from where I used to live (I wish it was there before!). When you walk in, the interior design and feel of the space is stunning. It’s not a cold distillery, but a warm and welcoming environment, perfect for visitors. From the bar area, feature tasting table and flavour kitchen… it is a very cool place to be and I can see why it is called ‘the home of English Gin’.

Kirsty was brilliant at showing us how everything worked at Hayman’s, from mixing our own botanicals, to learning about their shiny stills and rich history.  Hayman’s is a family owned gin and their full range of True English Gins are distilled just as they would have been over 150 years ago, benefiting from the authentic period recipes and traditional two-day process.

Now everyones favourite part of the tour has to be the tasting! After learning about each one, you really appreciate tasting it even more. I had tried Hayman’s gin before, but not their Old Tom or Sloe Gin.  Even though I make my own Sloe Gin, theirs was something else! Not too sweet, it has a great balance of flavours. Kirsty advised me to try with some lemon tonic or Sicilian lemonade, suddenly what I usually have at Christmas, turned into the perfect summer drink!

You too can visit Hayman’s Gin! Meet the team, see the stills, mix/smell the botanicals and taste the gins in a welcoming and stunning distillery. The tour is £20 each which lasts 90 minutes and includes:

  • A welcome English Gin and Tonic.
  • A tutored tasting of all their gins.
  • A guided tour of the working distillery, and introduction to how the gin is made.
  • £5 off the first 70CL bottle of Hayman’s Gin that you buy in their distillery shop.

Thank you to Hayman’s for showing me around! I can thoroughly recommend this tour, and you can have a little preview below by checking out my video!
