Elephant Gin: The Gin That Helps To Save Elephants!
The idea of an African-inspired gin evolved while reminiscing about “sundowner” drinks after a day out in the African bush! Elephant Gin produces award-winning handcrafted premium gin made with rare African botanicals.
Botanicals
Elephant London Dry Gin is a handcrafted premium gin of 45% ABV. Its innovative blend of 14 botanicals combines unique African ingredients which makes Elephant Gin distinct from any other. Classic botanicals such as juniper, cassia bark and orange peel are blended with ginger, lavender, elderflower, pimento berries, fresh apples and pine needles. The more unusual African botanicals include Baobab fruit, Buchu plant (with a blackcurrant-like flavour), African Wormwood, Lion’s Tail and Devil’s Claw. These botanicals are mixed and distilled, east of Hamburg, with locally sourced water. The result is delicious!
Taste and Aromas
The gin’s distinct nose first yields a subtle juniper aroma, with an undertone of mountain pine and other herbaceous notes. The taste is complex but strikingly smooth, encompassing floral, fruity and spicy flavours, which can be enjoyed both straight or in a cocktail.
Design
The design of Elephant Gin’s logo as a stamp is a nod to the letters sent home by the 19th century explorers of Africa, in which they described the botanical discoveries they made. Writing letters was the only form of communication at the time, without which Elephant Gin may have never heard the tales of these explorers.
Cause
Each batch is named after a past great tusker, or an elephant that Elephant Gin’s partners currently help to protect. You can find that name on your bottle! The team strongly believe in our responsibility to support African wildlife, so with every full size bottle sold, Elephant Gin contributes 15% of profits to Big Life Foundation and Space for Elephants. With the launch of miniature bottles in December 2017, Elephant Gin was keen to support The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and their mission to rescue and rehabilitate orphaned elephants. With each miniature bottle sold, 15% of profits is donated to the trust.
