It’s the tennis season and with the finals of Wimbledon this weekend there’s never been a better time to mix gin and tennis! Forget the Pimms, forget the Strawberries & Cream (well in the traditional sense at least) and have a look at these wonderful gin based drinks perfect for drinking and watching with!

Yes, you read it right, Poetic License have a special Strawberries & Cream gin and it’s delicious! They’re a small distillery based up north, in Sunderland and make some wonderful gins. This particular ‘Picnic Gin’ is perfect for the summer, with all your favourite tastes, this wonderful gin features a lovely blend of juniper flavours with all the flavours you can expect to get when eating strawberries and cream, what more do you want!

Wrecking Coast Cornish Clotted Cream Gin

If the strawberries element of the above gin isn’t your thing then you should take a look at this delicious clotted cream gin. A wonderful gin containing 12 botanicals which are blended with Cornish clotted cream which has been cold stilled in a vacuum still! Pretty cool right? and of course tasty! Best served neat over ice or with your favourite tonic!

The “Love 40” Cocktail

Love 40 Cocktail

A perfect cocktail to watch the tennis with, made using English Drinks Company Cucumber Gin and Qcumber water, it’s refreshing and ideal for those sunny days!

 You’ll need:

  • 50ml of Cucumber Gin
  • 25ml of Grapefruit Liqueur
  • 25ml of Strawnerry Liqueur
  • 2 x Basil Leaves
  • 2 x Mint Leaves
  • 75 ml of Qcumber & Mint Water
  • Optional – dash of Strawberry & mint Vinegar


  1. Mix all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker
  2. Give it a good shake (30 seconds or so)
  3. Strain into chilled martini glass
  4. Garnish with a slice of strawberry

Well we are certainly fans of Sipsmith gin so when we first came across this liqueur we were very excited and it did not disappoint, made by blending their London Dry Gin with freshly picked English strawberries and handmade milk sugar it creates a delicious gin liqueur that you’ll be wanting to drink every time the tennis is on!

What’s more you can make what they call a ‘Wimbledon Collins’ cocktail which is a mix of 45ml of this gin liqueur, 20ml of lime juice, all topped off with soda and garnished with a strawberry! Available from Sipsmith who also are credited with the great photo above.
