It’s Negroni Week! I love a large Negroni, made with a London Dry like Ramsbury Single Estate Gin. Stir one up at home, follow my recipe below for an easy Negroni.
You might have heard of sloe gin before, but what exactly is it and how is it different from regular gin?
Sloes are a type of fruit, part of the same family as cherries and plums and Sloe Gin is made by infusing gin with ripe sloes and usually adding sugar to the mix. This is then left to mature over several months and then strained off, leaving you with a tasty, sweet and fruity liqueur. The alcohol content varies between 15-30% ABV but EU regulations state that to be called Sloe Gin, it must have a minimum of 25% ABV.
There are a number of fantastic sloe gins available, including 6 O’clock Sloe Gin, Sipsmith Sloe Gin, Elephant Sloe Gin and Hayman’s Sloe Gin however, it’s really easy to make your own at home, especially if you have access to fresh sloes.
Here, ILoveGin explores some fantastic recipes for how to make your own sloe gin from home, as well as what differentiates this kind from other gins, sloe gin cocktails and more.
I love a gin fizz or silver fizz (the addition of an egg white). It only seemed right to add One Gin Sage & Apple to this delicious ‘Apple Fizz’.
A Bronx is a slightly sweeter version of a Martini, as it has the addition of freshly squeezed orange juice. I love it with Tiger Gin and it’s super easy to make at home. 🐅
It’s Negroni Week! Imbibe launched Negroni Week in 2013 as a celebration of one of the world’s great cocktails and an effort to raise money for charities around the world. With rocketing popularity of the iconic Italian spirit Campari plus gin revolution that has been occurring over the passed few years, the Negroni is now seen in most London cocktail bars. Bitter but sweet, simple yet complex and still so refreshing – it’s no wonder this historic drink has experienced a revival.
To stir one up at home, follow our recipe below for the perfect Negroni.
