The Story

Jawbox Classic Dry Gin is distilled at Echinville Distillery, which became Northern Ireland’s first licensed distillery in over 125 years. Their barley is grown in the fields surrounding the distillery, meaning they can produce spirit from field to glass. This spirit is used in the making of Jawbox Gin, which is the brainchild of Gerry White.  Gerry was inspired both by his time behind the bar and an influx of new gins.

The gin is distilled just outside of Belfast, which is a city built on industry and inventiveness. The products are of ingenuity of its people and have been exported around the world!

Why is it called Jawbox?

Well, a jawbox is the nickname of a ‘boxy Belfast sink”, a focal point in many Irish kitchens of old, used to wash anything you can think of! It was a place of communion where all the gossiping took place.

Jawbox is a gin for the adventurous and authenticity is at the heart of the brand. The gin is distilled slowly in a traditional copper pot still. Letting the botanicals sit in the spirit for some time is a crucial part of the process to ensure a vibrant flavour.

The classic gin is made with eleven botanicals including Belfast Black mountain Heather. Most of these botanicals are treated with a “steep and boil’ method and three use vapour extraction to preserve their delicate flavour.

The Jawbox range includes the Original Gin, Pineapple & Ginger and Rhubarb & Ginger liqueurs.
