Chris has always been a lover of wildlife and travel, but it wasn’t until a recent trip to South Africa that he learned about the grave threat to Pangolins.
It was a discovery Chris didn’t feel he could ignore. So, combining his passion for wildlife conservation and love of the spirits industry, the idea for Pangolin Gin was born: to create an extraordinary tasting gin that helps to raise awareness and funds to save the Pangolin from extinction.
Pangolin Gin is created to help save the pangolin from extinction. With each bottle purchased, a percentage goes towards international pangolin conservation charities working across Africa and Asia. Currently, we’re proudly supporting the African pangolin Working Group (donating 10% of their profits).
Along with these donations, and with the help of our unconventional brand ambassador, Pango, Pangolin Gin hopes to raise the profile of these amazing creatures and shine a light on the threats to its survival. Pangolin Gin is crafted in the heart of the Staffordshire Moorelands, in the Paper Mill Distillery at Staffordshire Brewery. This independent, family-run brewery has humble beginnings but over 100 years of combined experience in craft drinks.
Their brand-new distillery encompasses the old and the new: botanicals are firstly selected by hand and the gin is then crafted in the digital still, to ensure the quality and high specification.
Rare African botanicals Fynbos, Rooibos, Baobab and Honeybush were carefully chosen to create a flavour that captures the easy-going spirit of the South African ‘sundowner’ – perfect for sipping at the end of a long day.
The recipe blends these aromatic botanicals with fresh juniper berries, coriander, bursts of citrus from grapefruit, orange and lemon peel, and finished with the smoky aroma of cardamom. These ingredients are added to complement and bring out the best in the teas and pulps, with the right amount to ensure the finished product is flawlessly balanced.

Aromatic on the nose with citrus and earthy, woody, vanilla notes of rooibos. Smooth on the palate with sweet nutty notes, juniper, subtle florals and cardamom. A soft, lingering finish with juniper & honeybush pepperiness.Lovely sweet fruit and spice on the palate with a satisfyingly warm peppery finish.
To bring out the best in your drink, Chris recommends pairing a generous measure of Pangolin Gin with citrus-infused garnishes such as fresh orange, basil and a Premium Indian Tonic Water. For a cooler thirst-quencher, try sliced cucumber and a splash of Mediterranean tonic.
