Breakfast doesn’t have to be a boring time of the day, put away that bowl of cereal and make one of these gin jams or gin marmalade and grab your favourite bread, toast it and spread a thick layer on and enjoy!
Strawberry Gin Jam
Okay now we’d first like to apologise as we know this will make you crave some scones with cream and strawberry gin jam on but we’ve got some great news, the strawberry gin jam is easy to make and you only need gin, strawberries, sugar and lemon to make it! (Optional lavender to make the gin infused with strawberries & lavender). You will need to make the gin (15 mins) first and then after that you can start making the jam (20 mins).
Spring is finally here, (well.. at least on paper!) and our thirst for a refreshing, bright G&T to enjoy in the sun has inspired us to look for some great recipes to share with you. We shall forget about the warming flavours of cinnamon and star anise and say a big HELLO! to elderflower, rose, cucumber and all the tangy and dazzling garnishes out there.
We all have our favourite gins, you know the one you always make sure you have a bottle of in the cupboard or on the side, it’s the one that when it runs out you have a mini panic! Well how about using that and mixing up the garnishes you use to get new flavours and tastes from it.
The video below shows you how to make your favourite gin & tonic and mix it up four different ways!
Top Tip: If you’ve got a bottle of gin which you’re not a huge fan of this makes a great way to make use of it to try new garnishes and you may end up loving the gin with a particular garnish.
Sometimes combining two of our favourite things can make something super delicious! So when we first heard about combining gin with tea we thought this sounded right up our street.
This rather British take on a classic Martini involves adding Earl Grey to the mix, now let’s face it, there’s always time for a cup of tea so why not have one in the evening and have some lovely gin in it too!
Our members this month received the Spirit of Cornwall box and loved Tarquin’s gin! We find it outstanding in a G&T but it makes great base for cocktails too. Here are some of our favourites that you have to try making! And if you need the gin you can get it here 😉
Sometimes all it takes is combining two things you love to make something new and exciting. This is the case with a turbo G&T, which combines gin with coffee, specifically cold brew coffee. It’s surprising that these two great things have never crossed paths properly before until now!
Maybe they were just happy to do their own things, whether it was coffee, being there for those early starts, to give you a little energy and then resting itself in the evening whereas gin has always been there in the evenings, waiting for you after a long night. Luckily for us someone decided to put these two things together with some tonic and created what is now known as a Turbo Gin & Tonic!
The wonderful juniper spirit, if you hadn’t realised already we really love gin and so we’ve created the ultimate list of gin cocktails so you can find the best gin cocktails to make, try or dream about.
There’s something for everyone, from the gin lover who drinks gin whenever they can, to the other end of the scale to that person who says they ‘hate gin’, we’re pretty confident that if they try a few from this list we’ll have changed their mind on this superb spirit.
The qualities of this juniper based spirit mean that it can pair really well with a range of other flavours, from fruits such as grapefruit, to herbs and spices, meaning the possibilities of gin based cocktails are nearly endless. We’ve all had the struggle of searching online for a cocktail and come across hundreds of websites all with individual recipes, or lists of recipes which are simply uninspiring so we thought we’d make you the ultimate gin cocktail list with everything from a classic Bramble to a Strawberry, Basil & Pink Peppercorn Negroni. Chin chin! (or should that be Gin Gin!?)
A new year calls for some new ginspiration and we couldn’t help but fall in love with this recipe for a Grapefruit and Thyme G&T that we spotted on laurens blog, not only do the photos look incredible we tried it out and it tastes great too!
So we say this is a must make this year, when you’re next at the shops make sure you pick up a grapefruit and some thyme leaves (fresh ones) and you’ll be able to make this at home whenever you fancy a little treat!
