How to make Simple Syrup for Gin Cocktails

I love making cocktails at home, but when I first started many ingredients seemed complicated. I have spoken to people who buy simple syrup, but it is SO easy to make! Just watch my video below..

Simple Syrup Recipe

Ingredients

Makes 1 1/2 cups

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Method

  1. Heat the water in a saucepan over medium-low heat until hot (do not bring to a boil).
  2. Stir in the sugar until fully dissolved.
  3.  Let the syrup cool and transfer to a jar/bottle/or jug perhaps if using straight away! If in a sealed bottle, you can store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.

If you want to make a rich, thicker syrup you can add more sugar. Some bartenders prefer a 2:1 ratio!

You can also experiment with different sugars and flavours. For some more recipes check out this Taste Cocktails page.
